Vice President of Marketing
Birthplace: Charles City, Iowa
City of Residence: Bellevue, Iowa
How long have you worked at the Chamber/CVB: Since March 2010
Description of your job: I oversee the marketing & communications for the Chamber & CVB by developing & maintaining brand identity, marketing materials, and the overall marketing campaign.
What I like best about working for the Chamber/CVB: There is always something different and new every day. New events, new programs, new members, new ideas…
What’s a typical day like (for you) at the Chamber/CVB: Every day is a little (or a lot) different! We have a lot of recurring communication pieces – like the Chamber Chatter, Chamber@Work printed in the Biz Times as well as social media – that I’m responsible for sending out. But there are also events that require various invites and materials, multiple campaigns including the CVB marketing that I get to help oversee. Right now we are getting ready to kick off a new testimonial campaign with our members about why it is they ‘belong at the Chamber.’ It’s always fun and exciting! (Submit your testimonials here!)
Why you think businesses belong at the Chamber/CVB: There are SO MANY opportunities available for businesses and being a Chamber member is like being able to kick the door open to them and take what works for you and being able to run with it. Of course, I’m partial to the phenomenal exposure and promotion you have access to but there is never ending possibilities when it comes to the doors that are open for you and your business.
Motto or Personal Mantra: I’m stealing this from a co-worker, but – it is what it is. I think it’s simple and true. Face the fact that there are some things you can’t change, you just have to roll with the punches and make the best of every situation.
I’m happiest when: It’s Saturday/Sunday morning and I’m watching cartoons or playing cars with my 3 year old son.
Favorite pastimes: Hanging out at my parent’s bluff-top house overlooking the river on a summer night with good friends, good food and good drinks.
People would be surprised to know: I’m a huge fan (and advocate!) of traditional printing – letterpress and screen printing in particular – and spent a lot of time studying both in college. I actually have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Favorite song, movie, book or comedian: I drive every day from Bellevue so I’m a huge fan of Bob & Tom in the mornings. They always make me laugh!
